Graduate student Baran Bodur, of the Duke Neutrino and Cosmology Group, participated in the upgrade of the Super-Kamiokande underground neutrino detector during the summer of 2018. Super-K is being drained and refurbished for a next phase called “SK-Gd” with addition of gadolinium. Bodur helped with renewal of the outer detector’s lining and light sensors.
