Duke Physics Colloquium: The Curvature of the Universe

Wednesday, September 25, 2019 - 3:30pm

Speaker(s):
Hubert Bray (Duke Mathematics)

"The Curvature of the Universe"The last 40 years has been a golden age for the application of geometric techniques to understanding physics, including black holes and other aspects of general relativity, some of which we will survey. From this geometric point of view, we will also discuss open problems about the nature of dark matter, an arbitrary name we use to represent the large-scale unexplained curvature of the universe.Faculty host: Josh SocolarCoffee and cookies will be available before the event in Physics room 130.
