Experiments in these areas are typically carried out by individual students who have the opportunity to explore all aspects of a project, including design, construction, data analysis and theory. Many of these projects are enhanced by the Center for Nonlinear Dynamics and Complex Systems. Specific areas of study include nonlinear dynamics in solids and fluids, phase transitions and critical phenomena, and quantum liquids and solids.
