Physics Department Holds First Music Recital

On November 2, about fifty people attended the Physics Department's first Music Recital, which provided an opportunity for students, staff, faculty, and friends of the Physics Department to perform a variety of pieces spanning classical music to folk music to electronic music to jazz.

The recital was organized by Prof. Henry Greenside, who in talking with many students as the Director of Undergraduate Studies and with many physics colleagues realized that there were many talented and enthusiastic musicians in the Physics Department. He thought it would be fun to provide an opportunity for the musicians to perform and for members of the Department to take a break from their busy work day and enjoy some music and refreshments.

The Physics Department plans to have a second recital in spring of 2012 so anyone interested in participating should contact Prof. Greenside at hsg at phy dot duke dot edu. The Physics Department further hopes to have at least one recital per year during the next few years.
